Girl Dies After Self-Immolation Attempt in Ganjam Dist

Berhampur: A girl burnt herself to death by dousing herself with kerosene on Monday night in the Kukudakhandi area under the Berhampur Sadar police station limits in Ganjam district. According to reports, locals found her burning by the roadside. She was rescued and rushed to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

The police have registered a case in this connection and have started an investigation. The reason behind her drastic decision to end life by self-immolation has not been ascertained.

It is suspected that she may have attempted suicide following some domestic problems. Police have detained her father for interrogation.
