Opposition Parties Seal Seat Sharing for 190 Seats in Maharashtra

Mumbai: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance of opposition parties have reached a consensus for 190 out of 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra, informed Vijay Wadettiwar, Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly.

The parties held a meeting for seat-sharing discussion in Mumbai on Monday. The first list of candidates for around 175 to 200 seats of the MVA is expected to be announced by Dussehra.

For the remaining 98 seats, the three coalition parties will exchange proposals over the next three days to resolve disagreements and overlapping claims.

According to sources, Congress is pushing for a significant share of seats in Mumbai, traditionally considered a Shiv Sena (UBT) stronghold, while the Shiv Sena (UBT)  is seeking more seats in Vidarbha, where Congress has a stronghold.

The Congress is planning to increase its share in the MVA after a strong showing in the Lok Sabha elections.
