Bangladeshi Smuggler Killed in Retaliatory Action at Tripura Border, BSF Jawan Injured

New Delhi: A Bangladeshi smuggler was killed on Monday after a group of smugglers attempted to infiltrate the Salpokar border in Tripura, officials reported. The incident occurred around 6 pm in Gokul Nagar, Salpokar, when 12 to 15 armed smugglers tried to smuggle contraband into India.

BSF personnel on duty noticed the intruders and called for reinforcements. During the confrontation, one of the jawans was attacked with a sharp weapon by the group. The attackers attempted to overpower him, forcing the jawan to fire a warning shot in the air. While some smugglers retreated to Bangladesh, others encircled and assaulted the jawan, causing him injuries.

In self-defence, the jawan fired two rounds from his service weapon, leading the remaining smugglers to flee. Upon inspecting the area, one Bangladeshi smuggler was found dead. The injured jawan, who suffered cuts on his arm, bruises and internal injuries, is currently undergoing treatment.
