Accused Involved in Hacking Cop’s Palm Injured in Police Encounter in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A miscreant named Kamalu Pradhan, who hacked a police constable’s palm six days back, was injured during an encounter with the police in a forest near Burla in Sambalpur district.

Kamalu Pradhan’s right leg was hit by a police bullet. He was nabbed and shifted to VIMSAR Burla for treatment.

The encounter took place inside the Katapali forest where Kamalu was hiding. When the cops tried to capture him, he attacked on the police team with the same sharp weapon that he had used to hack the constable six days back.

In retaliation, IIC Anil Pradhan fired at him in self-defence and the miscreant was injured.

Kamalu Pradhan, a driver by profession was infamous for violent attacks on others over minor issues.

On October 4, when a police team reached Jharapali village following clash in which Kamalu was involved, he attacked a police constable named Saroj Bhoi and tried to chop off his arm with a sharp weapon. The injured police constable underwent a major surgery at Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital.
