180 Platoons of Police to Monitor Security During Rath Yatra in Puri

Bhubaneswar: Around 180 platoons of police force would be deployed in Puri on July 7-8 for the smooth and peaceful conduct of Sri Gundicha of Rath Yatra, said DGP Arun Sarangi.

Around 10 lakh of devotees from different parts of the country, abroad and Odisha are to congregate in Puri for Rath Yatra. Four Additional Director General of Police, 6 Inspector General , 14 Deputy Inspector General- DIG, 130 Inspectors will supervise the police force during the Ratha Yatra in Puri.

Ninety Executive Magistrates will be on duty for the Ratha Yatra in Puri.

There will be extra emphasis on crowd and traffic management, safe chariot pulling, and security to VVIPs arriving in Puri.

Puri Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb met Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi to discuss about smooth conduct of the Ratha Yatra.
