2 Chinese Citizens Killed In Blast by Militants In Pakistan’s Karachi

An explosion on a road near the Karachi airport in Pakistan claimed the lives of two Chinese nationals, informed the Chinese embassy in Pakistan on Monday.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) said in a statement, said that it had “targeted a high-level convoy of Chinese engineers and investors” coming from Karachi’s airport.

The explosion occurred in Pakistan’s largest city Karachi at around 11:00 pm on Sunday.

The Chinese embassy in Pakistan said in a statement on Monday that two Chinese citizens had been killed in a “terror attack” on a convoy of personnel from the Chinese-funded Port Qasim power project.

One Chinese national and several Pakistani citizens were injured in this terrorist attack.

The BLA is a separatist militant group advocating for the autonomy of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. It has regularly targeted Chinese nationals. The BLA claims that the Baloch locals are not receiving their fair share of wealth extracted by Chinese investors.
