Two powerful earthquakes of 6.9 and 7.1 magnitude shook the southwestern islands of Kyushu and Shikoku in Japan on Thursday.
Authorities issued a tsunami warning for several regions following the tremors, as reported by public broadcaster NHK.
But there were no immediate signs of major damage.
Authorities issued advisories for a one-metre-high tsunami for the Pacific coast of the western islands of Kyushu and Shikoku, NHK said.
