2 Students Drown in Canal During Viswakarma Idol Immersion in Baripada

Baripada: Two higher secondary students went missing during Vishwakarma idol immersion in the Subarnarekha canal in  Baripada of Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.

The missing +2 students were identified as Thakur Soren of Badampahad and Bhagya Prakash Patra of Tato village in Mayurbhanj’s Karanjia block. They were residing in a hostel in Baripada. Along with a procession, they had gone to the canal for the Viswakarma idol immersion on Tuesday morning. They slipped and from the embankment of the canal during idol immersion and were swept away by the strong water current in the canal.

Locals and ODRAF personnel are searching for the missing duo. They had not been found till last reports.
