Nabarangpur: Two teachers including a headmaster, who were arrested on charges of gang-raping a Class 6 girl student in a residential school in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district, were suspended from their jobs by the state government.
The arrested teachers are the school headmaster Suchendra Chandra Biswas and assistant teacher Keshab Majhi. They were suspended by the Nabarangpur collector in accordance with a directive from the SC&ST Development Department of the state government.
According to police, on November 7, these two allegedly gang-raped the victim at a toilet block on the premises of the educational institute in the Raighar area of Nabarangpur district. This incident occurred during the school hours.
The victim’s family lodged a complaint regarding the incident at Kundei police station on November 9.
Both teachers were arrested and they are now in judicial custody. Police have approached the court for 15-day remand of these accused persons.
The girl is now undergoing treatment at the Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital.
