20 Companies of CAPF Personnel To Be Deployed In Violence-Hit Ganjam For May 20 Polls

Bhubaneswar: Following the death of a person in the pre-poll violence in Khallikote, the Election Commission on Thursday decided to deploy 20 companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) for the next phase of voting on May 20.

This CAPF deployment was approved by a committee headed by Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal.

These 20 companies of CAPF will be deployed for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the poll in different booths of the eight assembly constituencies going to poll on May 20, a communiqué issued by the CEO stated.

In a political clash between the supporters of BJD and BJP in Khalikote block’s Srikrushnasaranpur village, a 43-year-old BJP worker was allegedly killed and some others were injured on May 15 night.
