25 Students Burnt Alive As School Bus Catches Fire Near Bangkok in Thailand

At least 25 students are feared to have died after a bus transporting 44 children and six teachers caught fire in Thailand on Tuesday.

This accident happened on Phahon Yothin Road near Zeer Rangsit shopping mall in Thailand’s Khu Khot in suburban Bangkok at around 12.30 pm local time.

The school children and their teachers were part of the educational trip organised from Wat Khao Praya Sangkharam in Lan Sak district.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra offered condolences to the victims’ families. In a post on social media platform X, he said the government would take care of medical expenses and compensate the victims’ families.

The bus was carrying 44 passengers from central Uthai Thani province to Ayutthaya for a school trip when the fire started around noon in Pathum Thani province, a northern suburb of the capital, Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungruengkit told reporters at the scene.

Rescue operations are continuing as the bodies were still inside the bus hours after the fire.

As per reports, the fire likely started after one of the tires exploded and the vehicle scraped against a road barrier.
