30 Monkeys Found Dead in Water Tank in Telangana

Hyderabad: Bodies of 30 dead monkeys were found in a water tank in Nalgonda district of Telangana.

According to sources, local municipal workers pulled out the bodies of 30 monkeys from a water tank near Nagarjuna Sagar under Nandikonda Municipality in Telangana on Wednesday.

This water tank was the source of piped drinking water for about 200 families in living in the Hill Colony. This large water tank was covered with metal sheets.

It is suspected that to escape the scorching heat and to drink water, a group of monkeys may have entered the water tank through the metal sheets. But they could not come out of it and drowned when the tank was filed up to the brink with water. Following the recovery of bodies of the monkeys from the water tank, the locals are worried about their health as during past few days they have consumed the water in which dead bodies of monkeys were rotting.

The locals allege that that the monkeys died 10 days back in the water tank and the same water was supplied to them for drinking. They demanded action against municipal officials for their negligence.
