4 Of Family Die of Suffocation As Fire Breaks Out At Their House In Delhi

New Delhi: Four members of a family died due to suffocation when a fire broke out at their home in Dwarka’s Prem Nagar area.

The fire services department received information about the fire at around 3.30 am and two fire tenders were sent to the spot.

The deceased were identified as Heera Singh Kakkar (48), a photographer by profession, his wife Neetu (40) and their sons Robin (22) and Lakshay (21).

According to initial findings, the fire was caused by an inverter. The fire spread to a sofa on the first floor of the two-storey building and the four victims inhaled the toxic smoke.

The firefighters had to break down the door to enter the house as it was closed from inside. The rescued family members were rushed to the Rao Tularam Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

Heera Singh Kakkar’s mother Sita Devi, who was sleeping on the ground floor of the building, was unharmed.
