4 Students Drown During Ganesh Idol Immersion in Baripada; 2 Missing, 2 Rescued

Baripada: Four students drowned during Ganesh idol immersion in the Subarnarekha canal in Baripada town of Mayurbhanj district on Friday.

Fire brigade personnel managed to rescue two of these students. The other two are yet to be traced.

According to reports, this mishap occurred in the Laxmiposi area under the Bhanjpur police station limits. A group of students residing in a mess were immersing their Ganesh idol in the canal on Friday morning when they were swept away by the strong water current.

Hearing their screams for help, locals tried to save the students. The fire services personnel also rushed to the spot to take up search operation to locate the two still missing students.
