4 Veteran Odia Artistes to Receive Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award

Bhubaneswar: Four veteran artistes from Odisha will receive the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award-2022 on September 16.

The selected Odia artistes are Sidheswar Das (Chhau Dance), Anant Mahapatra (Theatre), Ananda Bag (Brahma Veena folk music) and Gobinda Chandra Pal (Gotipua Dance).

They are among 86 senior artistes from across the country selected to be honoured as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav commemorating 75 years of India’s independence.

These artistes are above 75 years of age and have not yet received any national honour in their career till date.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a Tamrapatra (citation) and Angavastram (shawl).

The artistes will be felicitated with the award by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on September 16.
