5-Storey Building Collapses in Gujarat’s Surat, 7 Dead

Surat: Seven bodies were recovered on Sunday from the debris of a five-storey building that collapsed in Gujarat’s Surat on Saturday afternoon. Some people are suspected to be still trapped under the collapsed building.

At least six to seven people were still feared trapped in the debris, while the rescue operations at the site were underway by teams of the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

Police sources confirmed that the voices of trapped persons were heard at the beginning of the rescue efforts.

The building that collapsed was constructed in 2016-17.
