Nainital: Eight persons died when a pick-up vehicle fell into a gorge on the Chedakhan-Midar motor road in Uttarakhand’s Nainital district on Friday morning. Three persons injured in the accident have been admitted to the Community Health Centre, Okhalkanda.
The ill-fated vehicle met with the accident at around 8 am while it was traveling from Patlot to Amjad village.
The vehicle skidded off the road and fell into the gorge during an attempt of the driver to save a bike coming from the opposite direction, police sources said.
Six victims died on the spot. Two others died at a hospital during treatment. A couple and their son were also among those who died in the accident.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami condoled the loss of lives in the accident.
