A Maoist Killed in Encounter in Chattisgarh’s Sukma

Raipur: A Maoist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Monday morning.

The exchange of fire occurred in a forest under the Kistaram police station area. A joint team of the District Reserve Guard and Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) were involved in the operation.

Later on the body of the slain Naxalite and a weapon were recovered from the spot of the encounter.

The identity of the deceased has not been ascertained. Combing operations continue in the area to track down the escaped ultras.

According to police sources, till now, 33 Naxalites have been killed this year in separate encounters with security forces in the Bastar region, comprising seven districts including Sukma.
