Actor Kavita Chaudhary, Popular as “Lalitaji” of Surf Ad & “IPS Kalyani Singh” of Udaan, Passes Away

New Delhi: Actor Kavita Chaudhary, who is remembered as ‘Lalitaji’ in the Surf detergent commercials in the late 1980s as well as for her portrayal of IPS Kalyani Sigh in Doordarshan serial ‘Udaan’, passed away in a hospital in Amritsar on Thursday night.

Besides playing the lead role of IPS officer Kalyani Singh in Udaan, a serial telecast on Doordarshan between 1989 and 1991, she also wrote and directed the serial. This popular serial was based on the life of her elder sister and police officer Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya. Udaan also had Shekhar Kapur as an actor. This popular show inspired several women to opt for public services. It was re-telecast on Doordarshan during the COVID pandemic.
