Alert Railway Staff Averts Major Train Accident in Bhadrak Dist

Bhubaneswar: Because of an alert railway staff, who used his presence of mind to act swiftly, a major rail accident was averted at Manjuri Road station under Bhandaripokhari police station limits in Bhadrak district on Wednesday.

According to sources, the concerned railway staff discovered a stone stuck in the middle of the interlock of the railway track at Manjuri Road station. According to railway officials, this boulder stuck to the interlock could have caused a major derailment.

The alert railway personnel immediately alerted the concerned officials and the boulder could be removed in time so that it could not lead to any major accident.

The station manager of Manjuri Road station has lodged a complaint with the RPF regarding this incident.

People are yet to forget the triple train accident of June 2 in Balasore district that claimed 288 lives and injured over 1000 people. On Wednesday, six labourers who had taken shelter under the wagons of an engineless goods train were killed when the wagons ran over them after rolling on their own at Jajpur-Keonjhar Road railway station in Jajpur district.
