Puri: All four gates of Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri cannot be opened up for devotees, said Odisha Law Minister Jagannath Saraka. Recently there is growing demand for the opening of four gates of Puri Srimandir for the devotees.
Answering a question asked by Sundargarh MLA Kusum Tete on the opening of all four gates of the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Law Minister Saraka said, as the Srimandir Parikrama project is still underway, three gates cannot be opened for devotees for entry into the temple at this time.
Entry of devotees into the Jagannath Temple in Puri through four gates was closed since March 20, 2020, due to Covid-19 restrictions and crowd management.
Despite the end of COVID restrictions, all four gates have not been open for entry of devotees. Now most devotees enter the temple through the Singhadwar or Lions Gate. In August, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) decided to open Paschim Dwara or the west gate for Puri locals. The north gate is being used for exit purpose.
