3rd Blast Near Punjab’s Golden Temple; Newly Wed Among 5 Arrested

Amritsar: Five people were arrested by the Punjab police following another explosion near the Golden Temple in Amritsar late last night.

A low-intensity explosion occurred around 1 am on Thursday near Heritage Street in Punjab’s Amritsar. It is the third explosion that has happened within a week.

The Director General of Punjab Police said, “Amritsar low-intensity explosion cases solved.”

Among the suspects arrested, there is a newly-wed couple from Guru Ram Das Sarai.

Earlier, another explosion rocked the holy city of Amritsar on Monday. This blast occurred on Heritage Street on the way to the Golden Temple. As per reports, one person was injured in this blast. According to Punjab police, this blast happened at around 6.30 am. The police and forensic teams rushed to the spot for investigation.

On Saturday night, a similar mysterious blast in the same area had left six persons, including tourists, injured and led to panic. The incident occurred around midnight when the tourists and devotees were strolling on Heritage Street. The explosion occurred near a parking lot in front of Saragarhi Sarai.
