Another Bridge Collapses in Bihar, Seventh Incident in 15 Days

Patna: A part of a bridge over the Gandaki river in the Siwan district of Bihar collapsed on Wednesday morning. It was the seventh incident of bridge collapse in the state in last 15 days.

The small bridge Deoria block of the district connected some villages with Mahrajganj. No one was injured in this incident of bridge collapse.

It was the second bridge to collapse in Siwan district in the last 11 days. The bridge collapsed at around 5 am. It was constructed in 1982-83. It is suspected that heavy rains and a surge in the Gandaki river weakened the bridge.

Another bridge collapsed in the Siwan district on June 22 in the Darounda area. Similar incidents have been reported in districts like Madhubani, Araria, East Champaran and Kishanganj recently. Bihar government has formed a high-level committee to investigate these frequent bridge collapses.
