At Least 9 Injured in Pre-Poll Violence in Different Parts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: At least nine persons were reportedly injured in incidents of pre-poll violence at different places in Odisha ahead of the With Phase 3 voting on Saturday.

As per reports, incidents of violence occurred Pipili, Athagarh and Angul.

According to reports, five persons were injured in a group clash over the distribution of liquor at Taradinga village under Athagarh police station in Cuttack district on Thursday evening. The injured included a minor, who was admitted to the Sishu Bhawan hospital in Cuttack.

A panchayat samity member named Gadadhar Parida was among three persons, who were injured after facing an attack by miscreants at Sahajpur panchayat in Pipili. They were admitted to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

While Parida got his leg fractured, the other two received head injuries.

In another pre-poll violence, a BJD supporter identified as Govind Pradhan was allegedly attacked by a sharp weapon by a political rival at Chhendipada in Angul district. He was admitted to Chhendipada CHC. This violent incident occurred over a petty discussion.
