Bengaluru Fridge Murder Accused Commits Suicide in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: The main accused in the brutal killing of a 29-year-old woman whose dismembered body was discovered in a fridge in Bengaluru allegedly ended his life by hanging in the Dhusuri Police Station limits in Bhadrak district of Odisha.

The body of accused identified as Muktiranjan Pratap Ray (31), was found hanging from a tree. In a purported suicide note found from the spot, he has confessed to the crime, said sources.

According to reports, the accused had escaped out of Bengaluru after committing the crime and had arrived at his home in the Pandi village of Bhadrak district on Wednesday. He had gone out of his home on a two-wheeler. Later his body was found hanging by the locals.

The body of the deceased, identified as Mahalakshmi, chopped into at least 30 pieces, infested with maggots, was found by her mother and sister on Saturday at her residence in Vyalikaval.

According to the Police in Bengaluru, the suspect and the victim had developed a relationship while working in a garment shop. Mahalakshmi was allegedly pressuring the accused to marry her. This led to regular quarrels between them and irked over this, the accused, who is allegedly very short-tempered, killed Mahalakshmi. He later chopped her body into pieces and stored it in the fridge.

After committing the murder, Ray called up his younger brother and told him to vacate the rented house immediately. When the accused’s younger brother was interrogated, he revealed that after killing the woman, Ray confessed to his brother about the murder and said he cannot stay in the city anymore and was leaving for their native place in Odisha.
