Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lay the foundation stone for the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project on January 1, 2024. The project, estimated to cost Rs 5,929 crore, will be fully funded by the state government.
The Chief Minister gave his approval today after a thorough review of Phase I’s status, emphasizing that the entire project cost will be covered by the State government. To ensure its successful execution, a fund of approximately Rs 210 crore has been allocated in the Supplementary Budget for the current year.
The project is expected to be completed within four years and will comprise a 26-kilometre elevated line with 20 stations. The alignment will run from Trisulia Square to Bhubaneswar Airport, passing through important landmarks such as Nandankanan, KIIT Square, Vani Vihar, and the City Railway Station.
The Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project is a significant milestone for the state of Odisha and is expected to boost public transportation and economic growth in the capital city.
