Joe Biden Calls Donald Trump After Assassination Attempt at Pennsylvania Rally

In a dramatic turn of events, former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.

The assailant, positioned outside the venue, fired multiple shots, hitting Trump, 78, in the upper part of his right ear.

The attack also resulted in the death of one spectator and left two others critically injured, according to the US Secret Service.

Following the incident, President Joe Biden spoke to Trump, expressing his concern and solidarity. The White House confirmed that Biden, who was in Delaware at the time attending church, also spoke with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Butler Mayor Bob Dandoy.

“The President thanks the Secret Service and all law enforcement agencies for their swift response,” a White House statement said. Biden returned to the White House past midnight and is scheduled to receive an updated briefing from homeland security and law enforcement officials on Sunday morning.

Attorney General Merrick Garland, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and FBI Director Christopher Wray are among the officials involved in the ongoing investigation, led by the FBI.
