Bird Flu Outbreak at Ranchi Poultry Farm, Birds Culled

Ranchi: Following the identification of bird flu infection at a poultry farm in Ranchi, the Jharkhand government on Wednesday sounded an alert.

According to reports, around 920 birds, including 770 ducks, were culled at the poultry farm in the Morabadi area of Ranchi. A total of 4,300 eggs were also destroyed at the spot.

The presence of H5N1, a type of avian influenza A virus, was confirmed in the samples from infected birds sent to the ICAR-National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD) in Bhopal.
