BJD Calls Off Bhubaneswar Bandh on Sept 24 As Odisha Govt Orders Judicial Probe Into Bharatpur PS Custodial Harassment Case

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday called off the 6-hour Bhubaneswar Bandh call on September 24 (Tuesday), to protest against the assault on the Army officer and his fiancée at the Bharatpur police station.

Nayagarh MLA and senior BJD leader Arun Kumar Sahu informed it on Monday at a press meet held in the BJD office in Bhubaneswar. He said that the BJD has withdrawn its decision to hold Bhubaneswar Bandh on Tuesday as the Odisha government has ordered for a Judicial Probe. The decision was taken as per the instruction of the BJD President Naveen Patnaik, he added.

BJD President and LoP, Naveen Patnaik on Saturday had demanded a judicial probe into the case involving custodial assault of an Army Captain and his fiancée by the cops in the Bharatpur police station.
