Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP leader G Devaraje Gowda, who had flagged JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna’s alleged sexual abuse of several women, was taken into custody on Friday in the case of a sexual assault.
A case of sexual harassment was filed against Devaraje Gowda on the basis of a complaint lodged by a 36-year-old woman. It was alleged that the BJP leader molested her on the pretext of helping her sell her property.
Gowda fought against Prajwal’s father and Holenarasipura MLA HD Revanna in the 2023 Karnataka assembly election. It is alleged that he leaked the videos of Revanna’s alleged sexual abuse of several women. But he blamed the Congress for leaking the videos.
Prajwal Revanna, who is the grandson of former prime minister and JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda, escaped to Germany the day the videos emerged. He was suspended by the JD(S). A blue corner notice has been issued against him.
Three FIRs, including charges of rape, molestation, intimidation, blackmailing, and threatening, have been registered against Prajwal Revanna. His father, HD Revanna, is currently in judicial custody after being arrested on charges of kidnapping a mother of three.
