BJP Observes 12-Hr Bandh in Kalahandi District

Bhawanipatna: The BJP is observing a dawn-to-dusk bandh in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Thursday for a series of issues.

Because of the bandh, day-to-day life was affected in the district headquarters town of Bhawanipatna. The BJP workers held demonstrations and road blockades at several places. Many shops and business establishments remained shut.

However, the party excluded emergency services from the ambit of the bandh.

The demands for which the BJP has given this bandh call in Kalahandi district include closure of country liquor manufacturing units from the district, stopping Katni Chatni practice by millers during paddy procurement, end of distress sale of cotton by growers, and reduction in electricity tariff.
