“BJP Open to Nitish’s Return to NDA”, Amit Shah’s Statement Creates Political Waves in Bihar

Patna: The political atmosphere became hot in Bihar following a statement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah that the BJP was open to Nitish Kumar’s return to the NDA.

Following this, on Friday JDU directed all its MLAs to stay in Patna. The Bihar unit of the BJP held a meeting of its legislature party. The RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his deputy chief minister son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav rushed to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his residence.

In an interview with a regional newspaper, Amit Shah indicated that the BJP was warming up to Nitish. When asked about the probability of former National Democratic Alliance (NDA) members, including Nitish returning back to the NDA, Shah said that the party would consider if any such proposal comes. The Bihar BJP leaders echoed Shah’s statement.

The BJP also suddenly convened its legislature party meeting at the official residence of the leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Vijay Kumar Sinha. All of a sudden, JDU sent advisory to all its MLAs and MLCs, asking them to remain in Patna over the next few days. The Hindustani Awam Morcha of former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi also ordered its four MLAs to stay in Patna till January 25.

Lalu and Tejashwi met Nitish at his residence for an hour.

These developments occurred while INDIA bloc has not been able to come up with seat sharing consensus among its members. Both the JDU and the RJD are part of the INDIA bloc.
