BSF Issues High Alert Along India-Bangladesh Border Amid Violent Political Crisis in B’desh

New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) has issued a “high alert” across its formations along the 4,096-km India-Bangladesh border in response to recent unrest in Bangladesh.

Acting BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary and senior commanders have arrived in Kolkata to assess the situation.

In light of the ongoing protests in Bangladesh, which have resulted in over 106 fatalities in the past two days, the BSF has instructed all field commanders to remain stationed and deploy all personnel to border duty immediately.

Recent weeks have seen the cancellation of leave for personnel stationed at the border.

The BSF is responsible for securing India’s eastern border, which spans West Bengal (2,217 km), Tripura (856 km), Meghalaya (443 km), Assam (262 km), and Mizoram (318 km).
