BSF Personnel Thwart Maoist Attack Plan in Kandhamal, IED Seized During Combing Operation

Phulbani: Personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) 99-Battalion on Thursday thwarted an attack plan of Maoists in Kandhamal district as they recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) during a combing operation.

Acting on intelligence reports, the security personnel from COB Pahireju had taken up the operation in the forest near the Tilkapanga village of the Pahireju panchayat under the Gocchapada police station limits.

BSF personnel along with the local police conducted an extensive search operation in the area and recovered the planted IED. With the help of the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU), the IED was dismantled and neutralized. The IED was in teh form of a tiffin box.

This IED would have posed a significant threat to security in the area.
