NEET-UG Paper Leak Case: CBI Arrests 2 More Persons From Patna

Patna: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested two more individuals in connection with the alleged leakage of the NEET-UG exam paper, bringing the total number of apprehensions to 11.

The arrested include NEET-UG aspirant Sunny from Nalanda and Ranjit Kumar, the father of another candidate from Gaya.

This development comes as the CBI intensifies its probe into irregularities surrounding the medical entrance exam. Previously, the agency arrested eight individuals in Bihar related to the paper leak, one person each in connection with alleged manipulation in Gujarat’s Latur and Godhra, and another from Dehradun for suspected involvement in a broader conspiracy.

Earlier arrests included the principal and vice-principal of the Hazaribagh-based Oasis school, along with two individuals accused of providing a location where burnt question papers were discovered by Bihar Police.

The CBI has registered a total of six FIRs in connection with the NEET-UG row. One FIR pertains to the paper leak in Bihar, while the remaining FIRs from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra focus on impersonation of candidates and cheating offences.

The agency is also conducting a comprehensive investigation into the alleged irregularities based on a reference from the Union Education Ministry.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts NEET-UG for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related medical courses across government and private institutions in India. This year, over 23 lakh candidates appeared for the exam held on May 5 at 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 international centres.
