CBI Raids 67 Locations in Odisha Over Fake Certificate Racket for Postal Recruitment

Bhubaneswar: In a significant crackdown, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday conducted extensive raids at over 67 locations across various districts in Odisha, including Kalahandi, Nuapada, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak. The operation involved more than 204 officials, comprising 122 CBI officers and 82 personnel from other departments.

These raids aim to dismantle an interstate organized gang supplying fake certificates to candidates of the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Exam.

The raids stem from a complaint filed by the Director of Postal Services, Bhubaneswar, after discovering 63 candidates with forged 10th pass certificates during the verification process for 1,382 GDS posts. The online application process, launched in January 2023, required candidates to upload certificates for verification.

Sources allege the certificates originated from various boards outside Odisha, including the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Allahabad, and the West Bengal Board, Kolkata. The complaint suggests a wider network creating and supplying these fake documents to candidates.
