New Delhi: India’s Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft has undergone a fifth and final orbit reduction maneuver and the separation of the Lander module (Vikram) from the propulsion module is planned for August 17, 2023, stated ISRO through a message on X (earlier Twitter).
The lander and rover, Pragyaan, are expected to land on the Moon on August 23. After landing on the lunar surface, the Vikram Lander will photograph the Pragyaan rover, which will deploy its instruments to study seismic activity on the lunar surface.
Chandrayaan-3 was launched into space by the LVM3 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on July 14. The spacecraft entered lunar orbit on August 5 and is expected to land on the Moon on August 23.
After the lander Vikram will attempt a soft landing on the Moon’s surface on August 23.ISRO
