Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday congratulated home-bred javelin thrower Kishore Kumar Jena for his remarkable performance at the World Athletic Championships in Budapest.
The Chief Minister wrote on his X handle, “Congratulate javelin thrower from Odisha, Kishore Kumar Jena on his impressive performance at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest with his personal best of 84.77 meters. A proud moment for India as three athletes were in medal contention. Wish them all the very best for the future.”
Although Kishor Jena gave his personal best, he could not bag a medal. Yet he was among the three Indian athletes, who represented India in the final of the javelin throw event.
Jena faced visa problems and could reach Budapest at the last moment. He finished fifth in the championship with a throw of 84.77 meters, which was his personal best.
