The arrested couple is identified as Bibhu Kalyan Mishra and his wife Veena Mishra from Pattamundai, while the other accused is Rahul Joshi from Uttarakhand.

According to police sources, a few years back, a medicine shop owner of Marshaghai block named Santosh Parida came in contact with Bibhu, who introduced himself as a senior employee in a pharmaceutical firm at Haridwar in Uttarakhand.

With time Bibhu’s wife Veena tied Rakhi on Santosh’s hand to strengthen their relations. A few days back, Bibhu introduced Rahul to Santosh claiming that Rahul was the private secretary to the Health Minister of Uttarakhand.

Later, Bibhu allegedly took Rs 40 lakh from Santosh with the promise that Rahul will help him to set up a pharmaceutical firm in Odisha. But Bibhu neither set up the firm nor returned the money to Santosh.

After realizing that he had been conned, Santosh registered a complaint against Bibhu at Patkura police station. The police investigation led to the arrest of the trio.
