Couple Dead, 3 Injured, As Speeding Car Crashes to Parked Truck in Jajpur Dist

Jajpur: A couple lost their lives and three others were seriously injured when the car in which they were travelling hit a truck parked on the roadside at Panikoili Square on NH16 in Jajpur district on Tuesday late night.

The deceased were identified as Binod Jena and his wife Sumitra Jena.

According to reports, the ill-fated couple was among five persons, who were travelling from Cuttack to Balasore. Careless driving by the car driver is said to be the cause of the accident. Receiving information, local police rescued the passengers from the car and admitted them to a nearby hospital, where Binod and his wife were declared dead on arrival.

The three injured were shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Police have seized the car and have started a probe into the incident.
