Couple Killed, Their Child Becomes Orphan, in Hit and Run Incident in Cuttack Dist

Cuttack: In a sad hit-and-run case, a couple was killed while their four-year-old son luckily survived, when their bike was run over by a speeding truck at Nrusingha Bazar under Jagatpur police station limits in Cuttack district on Wednesday night.

The orphaned child also was injured. The accident-causing truck escaped from the spot.

The deceased were identified as Anirudha Jena (40) and Ritanjali Jena (35) from Puran village of Mahana panchayat under Salipur police station limits in Cuttack district. They had gone to Sakhigopal temple in Puri district on their bike to have darshan on the occasion of Amla Navami.

They met with the accident during their return journey via the Cuttack-Chandbali road.

The injured orphan son has been admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack. Jagatpur police have launched an investigation to identify and track down the accident-causing truck.
