Crorepati Chief Engineer Of Balasore Rural Works Circle Arrested In DA Case

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials on Saturday arrested NV Harihara Rao, Chief Engineer in the office of the Chief Construction Engineer, Rural Works Circle in Balasore, on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known source of income.

The simultaneous raids conducted by the vigilance sleuths on Friday unearthed Rs 46.45 lakhs in cash from his brother-in-law’s house in Berhampur.

His properties included two buildings, one 3-BHK flat, two suspected benami flats in Bhubaneswar and Berhampur, five high-value homestead plots, deposits and investments totalling Rs. 3.42 crores as well as 510 grams of gold.

As Rao could not provide a satisfactory explanation for these assets, he was arrested. The Vigilance Cell has registered a case against Rao.
