Curfew Extended Till Today Midnight in Balasore Municipal Area

Balasore: The Balasore district administration extended the curfew imposed in the Balasore Municipality area until midnight on Wednesday.

Initially, the curfew was clamped in the communal tension hit town from midnight of June 17 to midnight of June 18.

Balasore Collector Ashish Thakare announced that all entry points to OT Road will remain closed in Balasore during the curfew period. All commercial establishments, educational institutions and markets will also remain closed.

According to a notification issued by the sub-divisional magistrate, exemptions are granted to those involved in law and order, emergency services, and candidates appearing for examinations.

Police conducted a flag march in Balasore asking the inhabitants to remain indoors.

The curfew was clamped in Balasore town following a communal clash between two groups. Internet services were also suspended in sensitive areas to prevent escalation of tension.

Police have arrested around 63 persons in connection with the communal clash.
