Dhaba Owner Crushes 3 Sisters With His New Car in Balangir; 1 Dead, 2 Critical

Balangir: A young woman died on the spot while her two sisters were critically injured when they were run over by a car driven by a local dhaba owner at Nunhada village of Balangir district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Bhuleswari Majhi. The two seriously injured were her sisters, Pratima Majhi and Demati Majhi.

According to reports, Sushil Kumar Sahu, who runs a dhaba on the Patnagarh-Kantabanji State Highway in the Balangir district was driving his new car on Tuesday evening, when he caused the fatal accident. Locals alleged that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

While driving through Nunhad village under Belpada police station, Sahu lost control of the vehicle and ran over three sisters, who were standing in front of their house.

Bhuleswari died on the spot. The locals rushed the three injured sisters to the nearest hospital. They were later shifted to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir. Following the incident, the angry villagers detained Sahu’s car and allegedly ransacked his dhaba. Police had to intervene to pacify the angry mob, who were demanding adequate compensation to the family of the victims.
