Bhubaneswar: Former Union minister and BJP leader Dilip Ray, who was defeated from the Rourkela Assembly seat has filed a petition in the Orissa High Court challenging the election of the BJD MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak.
Dilip Ray lost by a margin of 3,552 votes. Nayak had secured 64,660 votes, while Ray got 61,108 votes.
Ray in his petition before the High Court, has sought Nayak’s election to be declared void on the ground that he had suppressed information at the time of filing nomination.
Ray’s advocate Soumik Spandan Tripathy alleged that Nayak while filing his nomination papers, had not disclosed information that he holds office of profit and as well data related to his total assets and liabilities and criminal cases pending against him.
Nayak has earlier won from the Rourkela Assembly constituency in 2019 and 2009.
