Elderly Farmer Hacked to Death During Sleep in Mayurbhanj Dist

Baripada: A 61-year-old man was hacked to death at Madhunanda village under Baisinga police station limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Sunday night.

The deceased, Devendra Sasmal (61) was a peasant.

Devendra was sleeping at the verandah of his house on Sunday night when some unidentified assailant made the lethal attack on him. Hearing some sounds, his son Ratnakar came out of the house and found Devendra in a pool of blood.

Police seized the body and sent it for autopsy. The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
