Elephant Calf Electrocuted by Trap Laid by Poachers in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: The carcass of an elephant calf was located in the Rasol Section of the Hindol Forest Range in the Dhenkanal district on Tuesday.

According to forest officials, this male calf, aged around four years, was allegedly electrocuted by an electric trap set by poachers. Initial findings hint that the elephant calf showed signs of electrocution from the 11kv line. The exact cause of its death can be ascertained after the autopsy report.

On the basis of intelligence input, two persons have been arrested from Mundiapasi village in relation to the case.

Further investigation is underway.
