Sundargarh: A special vigilance court in Sundargarh sentenced the former sarpanch of Kinjirikela panchayat Rama Chandra Minz to two years of rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case.
The vigilance court also directed the ex-sarpanch to pay a fine of Rs 2,000. In default of payment, he would undergo two months more imprisonment.
The Court further awarded him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year and payment of a fine of Rs 1,000. He would undergo one month more imprisonment in default of the fine.
Both the sentences will run concurrently.
Rama Chandra Minz was arrested by vigilance in 2016 for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant to issue a work order in favour of his mother (an IAY beneficiary) to construct IAY house.
