Excise Policy Case: Delhi HC Orders Sunita Kejriwal to Delete Court Proceedings Video from Social Media

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Saturday directed Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, to remove a video recording of court proceedings related to the Delhi excise policy case from social media platforms. The video features Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, addressing a trial court.

Justices Neena Bansal Krishna and Amit Sharma issued notices to six individuals, including Sunita Kejriwal, along with social media platforms X, Meta, and YouTube.

The petition, filed by lawyer Vaibhav Singh, alleges a violation of the Delhi High Court’s Video Conferencing Rules for Courts, 2021. Singh claims the video, recorded on March 28 during Arvind Kejriwal’s trial court appearance following his arrest, was posted online, breaching court protocols.

The High Court’s ex-parte interim order also mandates social media platforms to remove similar content if it is re-posted. The case is scheduled for further hearing on July 9.
