Female WFI Chief, No Kin of Brij Bhushan in Federation: Protesting Wrestlers to Home Min

New Delhi: Protesting wrestlers demanded a female to take over the charge as Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and no family member of Brij Bhushan Singh should be in the WFI. They made these demands during their meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday.

The protesting wrestlers also demanded the arrest of BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh before June 9, accusing him of sexually harassing women grapplers, including a minor.

So far, due to the intervention of the Supreme Court, two FIRs have been lodged against Brij Bhushan. He has been booked under the POCSO Act.

Satyawrat Kadian, the husband of ace grappler Sakshi Malik, said the wrestlers’ meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah was inconclusive, as they “did not get the reaction they wanted from the home minister”.

Protesting wrestlers went to Haridwar to immerse their medals in the Ganga but were stopped by farmers’ leader Naresh Tikait. Later they gave an ultimatum to the government demanding the arrest of BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s arrest before June 9.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is also the BJP MP has denied all allegations against him and has termed them as politically motivated.
